Drawings & Illustrations

This is an example of a house portrait, drawn from photos that the client provided. The original size is about ten by eight inches. (Pen & Ink.)

The last time I took a life drawing class, I spent a lot of time sketching hands and feet. Someone made a comment about all the disembodied hands and feet looking odd, so I added horse heads to them. Other than the fact that I'm usually either doodling horses or dragons, I'm not sure why I choose to use horse heads. It was a purely spontanteous act, one that led to many whimsical drawings. (These were done with ballpoint pens.)

I did a number of illustrations for the West Shore Public Library's childrens library, usually for their summer reading programs. (Pencil drawing)

This is an illustration for an unpublished story about Benny Bunny, who is sent to the grocery store, and in the process of meeting others forgets what he is supposed to get. (Pencil drawing.)

I was commissioned to do the illustrations for a privately published book about a high school basketball team for a reunion. The author's wife had me do this piece as a gift for her husband afterwards. (This is a scanned copy of a Xerox of the original.)

This is commissioned art for a church's appeal for donations of hats, gloves and scarves during the holidays.
