Paintings

Della has created some wall-sized works on commission. The mural pictured below is at the Unitarian Church of Harrisburg.

Be sure to check out Della's contribution to the 2004 Harrisburg CowParade. As a result of her participation, she was a visiting artist at the Upper Allen Elementary School.

Della served as Artist-In-Residence at E.H. Phillips Elementary School. There, she met with teachers and staff who wanted to have the students create a mural to hang in the school. Della was given a list of notable area buildings and landmarks and designed a suitable layout. She then spent two weeks guiding 530 Kindergarten through sixth grade students, teachers and staff members in the painting of the seven-by-five-foot mural. After the mural was finished, prints were made of it and sold to the students and community.

She enjoys using watercolors to paint images of lighthouses and victorian buildings. Here is a painting of the Star Barn, a Civil War era structure that is near the Harrisburg International Airport. The barn and matching outbuildings were in a bad state of disrepair and desparated needed help before it is too late. Luckily, a church's congregation bought the property and they have helped to restore the barn. The outbuilding still need work. Preservation Pennsylvania has it on their list of "at risk" buildings in Pennsylvania.
