I. BACKGROUND/INTEREST.

I began a serious interest in photography in 1978 while attending the Pennsylvania State University. I graduated with a B.A. degree in Business Administration in 1980. In 1980, I attended some basic photography courses taught through the continuing education program at the Harrisburg Area Community College. A great source of inspiration and education was obtained through the Harrisburg Camera Club. I began a part-time business called "Creative Visions" in April 1988. The business combines the talents of Della Hoke(-Uvick) (Illustrations/watercolors) and myself (photography).

As a photographer I believe in providing a variation in subject matter which is pleasing to both the casual observer and those with a trained artistic eye. Photography is a media which reaches out to everyone. A photograph should create a feeling and elicit an emotional response from its viewer. I strive to instill this feeling by providing diversity in my photography.

Even with this diversity, I still have a special love for one subject; lighthouses. I began photographing these guardians of the coast around 1986. I am a member of many lighthouse societies and organizations whose main objectives are to preserve and restore the lights of the United States. My goal is to capture and preserve as many as possible on film so that they can be shared by all for an eternity!
