Girl Scout Troop 1966

Gold Award Notes

Here is a chart on everyone's progress as Della knows it thus far. Please let her know of any updates.

The following is from Cookie Grugan's visit. There is an online booklet for the Gold Award.

  1. 30 leadership hours. At least two different things, minimum of three hours on each situation.
  2. Interest Projects - 3 IPs plus the "Write Now" Focus Book (part of the newer Studio 2B program).
  3. Careers = 40 hours. Shadow an adult, apprentice, college visit (serious!), visit to Vo-tech OR if you have a regular, paying job.
  4. 4B Challenge - at this point you must have an advisor before you start this portion. There is a Gold Award Letter of Intent online.
    • Become Yourself: what are your skills?
    • Be Smart
    • Belong: community - what needs done? (not for GS, but for community)
    • Believe: hone it down to what you can do and what you are capable of
    • Build a Network: who is doing what? Up to 15 of the total 65 hours can count toward this and preparation/planning.
  5. The Gold Award Project: must take 65 hours (see above).
