Girl Scout Troop 1966

Hemlock Girl Scout Council is 40 Years Old!

And we helped to celebrate!!

be sure to see the photos at the bottom!

The girls seemed to have a great time at the 40th Anniversary Celebration. They worked well with the visiting Girl Scouts and enjoyed seeing what the other troops were doing at their booths. There were over 3000 girls and adults registered for the event, and over 500 stayed overnight.

It was a long day - we got to the Giant Center around 9 am, and had our booth all ready to go by 10. The event ran until about 3:30. Then we cleaned up and went to Red Robin restaurant (see below about Red!) and then the girls visited the Outlets at Hershey for a little shopping.

The troop especially had fun with the Red Robin mascot and her chaperone, Andy. At the end of the day, the troop was invited back to the Green Room, where Red showed the costume to the girls, let them try on the head, and spoke about being a mascot (BTW, this will count as having a "career" talk with a representative from the food industry -- any mascot for a restaurant or food-related business is part of the public relations for that business).

After dinner and shopping we returned to the Giant Center, where the fun really began! There were games of all sorts, inflatables, crafts, a band, and henna tattoos (for those willing to wait an hour in line!). At 11 pm the movie "Freaky Friday" started, along with popcorn and drinks. By 2 am it was lights out and time for sleep. They got us all up at 7 am (groan) for a contintental breakfast. Then we went home -- how many went back to bed?
